Jaew Hon
About This Spot
Tucked above the vibrant thoroughfare of Roosevelt Avenue, Jaew Hon feels like stepping into a casual, inviting corner of Thailand right in the heart of Jackson Heights. The setting shifts away from the city’s usual rush, offering a quietly lively spot where friends gather around steaming pots and share the warmth of tabletop cooking. It’s the kind of place where conversations find their rhythm alongside bubbling broth, and every moment of the meal invites connection.
The atmosphere is unpretentious and welcoming, with the soft hum of simmering ingredients weaving through the air. Here, the pace is unhurried yet energized by the shared ritual of dipping, tasting, and discovering fresh flavors together. The kitchen’s signature Thai hot pot broth is a sensory anchor — rich, layered, and comfortingly familiar — that invites you to explore a range of tastes in one sitting. Around the table, an array of meats, seafood, and vibrant vegetables await their turn, each bite balanced by the nuanced tang of house-made dipping sauces.
Beyond the hot pot, smaller dishes and drinks add a thoughtful dimension — from garlic fried rice that carries a subtle golden crust, to the refreshing floral notes of chrysanthemum iced tea or the creamy sweetness of a coconut smoothie. These details unfold naturally as part of the shared meal, offering little moments of discovery amidst the convivial atmosphere.
Jaew Hon's charm lies not just in its food but in how it quietly brings people together, turning a simple meal into an experience marked by warmth and genuine human connection. It’s a spot that feels both comfortably local and distinctly authentic, where each visit teaches you something new about Thai home-style dining and the joy of communal sharing.

This Thai hot pot spot in Queens is a hidden gem! The price is great and the food is super tasty. The variety is impressive, with plenty of fresh meat and seafood options. The highlight for me is the yen-ta-fo soup — it’s the real star! Packed with flavor and perfectly balanced. Everything tastes fresh and authentic. Definitely one of my favorite spots for a comforting, delicious meal!

The best hot pot place in NYC, and probably my favorite of all the hot pot places ever. The only Thai hot pot place that I know of in the city as well. It is AYCE and the prices have gone up over the past few years from $19.95 until now $34.95. Thank you, inflation. But it is still worth it. And it is CASH ONLY, which is slightly inconvenient, but still worth it. The broth is always so delicious. I always stick with the Tom Yum and Jaew Hon broth. They are both spicy and flavorful. Some days are more spicy than others. The beef is good quality and fresh. I especially like the fish filet and calamari. To dip these in their amazing spicy lime sauce - just divine. Since Covid, the customers are no longer allowed up to the veggies and rice stand. But the servers are quick with getting me what I need. I love the morning glory which none of the other hot pot places has. It is perfect when soaked in the flavors of the Thai broth. Another unique item is the unlimited garlic rice! My husband always devours this. Even though the place is small and the menu items are not expansive like some major hot pot restaurants nowadays, the freshness of the ingredients, the flavorful broth choices, the delicious sauces are more than enough to keep me and plenty of other from coming back. I always enjoy my meals here. It was worth the trek to Queens every single time.

This was my first experience with Thai hot pot, and it did not disappoint. The broth was rich and flavorful, with the perfect balance of tangy and spicy notes. The garlic fried rice was an excellent addition, and the freshness of the meats and vegetables really stood out. And of course, you can't forget the classic Thai iced tea--it was the perfect complement to the meal.
